Halloween outdoor 2014!

So excited for Halloween Decor this year!

First I reworked the halloween wreath!

Then I set out the giant skull!

Another shot of the front window...

The front of the house, decor wise.  I scaled back this year since im learning our new little town is major windy!  I spent a ton of time last year fixing stuff that blew down.  Not doing that anymore!

Anyhow,

Happy Halloween!

Halloween Skull Wreath

Skull Halloween Wreath

This past couple days I have been working on a Halloween wreath.  I used dollar store skeletons that I cut up and painted.  A wreath form.  Some moss and a few bugs.  Thats it!!

Longest part wast painting the skeletons so they looked less plastic.  Hardest part was glue gunning the whole thing together.  Because I always burn myself with my glue gun....repeatedly!

Eye see you!

I made a jar of eyeballs over the weekend to go with my other specimen jars I use to decorate for Halloween!

To do this you need:
Plastic eyeballs from the dollar store
an empty jar with a lid (mine was an empty salad dressing jar)
water
green and yellow food coloring

This is easy.  Plop the eyeballs in the jar.  Add water and then a few drops of green and yellow food coloring until the water is the shade you like.  Then put on the lid.  I then did spray paint the lid a bronze color and will probably add some dust to the top for an aged affect.  Sometimes I do a label,  but in this case it covered the eyes and we like it better this way.   Pics to follow of the whole thing set up for Halloween!

I love easy cheesy!

DIY Halloween Noose Necklace

I am starting to try and come up with a few new pre- Halloween projects.  That and Im still so not ready to face back - to - school.  UGH!!

Anyhow here is my first project of the season!

 A Halloween Noose Necklace!

What you need:
twine, thick string or yarn
some sort of clasp.  unless you want to make it long enough to tie!

I got the directions on noose making (learn something new everyday!)  on this website...http://www.realknots.com/knots/noose.htm

here is my basic boring noose.....

I then damped it with plain water and added a few layers of brown paint to age it.  Nooses are old and yucky ya know :)

I then took a clasp i had on hand...

Unraveled the end of the string and tied it on....

 Then tidied the ends....

And then I was done.  Plus it is so hot in my shop that it dried quickly!

It is also why I look like Im melting!!!

Happy Pre- Halloween!

Eyeball Globe light

A few weeks ago I spotted a project from Easy Peasy Grandma for eye ball lights.  I totally loved the idea of it but didn't think it was doable because I didn't have the materials.  That is until I went to the local goodwill and found a round light just the right size for my own eyeball!

All it took was the light I bought for a DOLLAR! and some acrylic paint I had around the house.  Paint the eyeball and them paint red lines to make it look a bit scary. Then put an electric tea light inside to make it light up!  Easy and very cool!  My kids loved it up on the shelf with our Halloween decor.

Ghost Town

After spending the last couple days walking by and staring at my little village with a glimmer of an idea- I decided to do something about it!  I bought these little houses at the dollar store.  They sit up on my window in the kitchen.  (actually I kinda move them around).  I noticed that the backs were just blank!  oh yeah baby - totally ok for me to do something with!  I will then just turn them around when I want my cute little village back.

So I did.  I would have done a tutorial but LITERALLY all I did was turn them around and paint them with black, grey and yellow.  And not even very neatly I might add because I wanted them to look rough - they are haunted after all!

I am thinking tho that they need a ghost or two on the sides or a tiny tombstone.   lol  oh I'm having too much fun!
Now I need to go find a cute idea for a Halloween plate!

** Reminder - I have a Scentsy Buddy Giveaway starting on Sept 30!  Be sure to drop by and check it out!

Graveyard bones tutorial

Last night I wanted something to do to relax.  I decided since I was about to decorate for Halloween that I would do a Halloween decor craft.  I looked at my decor that I already had and decided that I needed BONES.  - at least ones bigger than what I had.  So this is what I came up with....

Here is how you make them if you want an easy relaxing project to hang out and watch Walle.

My supplies:

aluminum foil
paper mache
gesso
antique gel
foam brush
old sock

I started by mixing the paper mache in a tub..

I then made a bone shape out of aluminum foil and started to cover it with a thin layer of paper mache..
As soon as they were covered and looked like a white bone I put them in the oven on 100 with the door cracked just to help them dry faster.  When they were dry they looked like this.
I then painted a light coat of Gesso all over them and let it dry.  Then I took my sponge brush and dabbed antique gel into the cracks and rubbed it off with my trusty old sock.

And then let them dry and they were all done!

I will probably rearrange them a couple of times before Im ok with it but for now I have bones freshly dug up out of the grave!

Ghosty gourds

I finished these gourds up earlier today.  I then had to make a couple more pumpkin gourds because I sold the first 2 I made ealier today.

My ghostly gourd ready to go trick or treating with his pumpkin bowl and flashlight!

two ghosts sitting on the shelf to dry!

Only bad thing is now Sweetheart gets to clean a couple more gourds for me which is not his fav thing to do but he does because he loves me! :)

Halloween painted gourds

I just finished one of my projects this morning.

2 gourds that I painted for my sister.

I usually carve gourds but this time I decided to paint them.  Plus she asked me to.  Anyhow here they are and now Im done.  I just have to go scrub the paint off my hands lol.  Im such a messy painter.

More Halloween decorations

The kids and I added a few more things around the house for Halloween so I thought I would post them to my blog. We hung a blood bag above the kitchen table (from walmart its really fruit punch mix). We also made our bloody candles and added somefunky plates from the dollar store.
We then moved on to our firplace mantle in the kitchen. We used different sized bottled filled with colored water and glasses filled with chocolate eyeballs. I want to add some labels to the jars, but overall the look is good for now.
Since my kids are all on the small side I push desert at our house. As it is October I have been trying to make Halloween or fall deserts. The other night I made Halloween puddings.
Here is a finished one.
Here is a piture of the Halloween tree in the dining room. Im just loving all the Halloween decorations!
